Meta data is one of the top organic ranking signals. The search engines look to meta data to understand what a web page should be ranking for.

Meta data comes in 2 main forms:

• Meta title
• Meta description

The meta title is a short, 55-60 character overview of what a webpage is about. The typical meta title structure is:

Category | Keyword | Property Name

Meta descriptions are no longer an organic ranking signal, however that does not diminish their importance. Meta descriptions greatly influence organic click through rates, enticing people to click through to the website.

Meta descriptions are 155-160 characters in length and often include strong calls to action to increase CTR.

What Does Tractorbeam Do?
