Link Building

Link building is one of the more controversial SEO tactics. The Tractorbeam rule of thumb is that links should be high quality, earned links.

Links to a website are important, because they signal to the search engines that a website is authoritative and trustworthy. As a search engine crawls a webpage, it follows links from one page to another, and uses those linking signals to determine authority.

Sites that rank well in the search engines generally have high quality links pointing to it.

For link building, we are trying to accomplish a few things:

1. Find websites that have mentioned our website but have not provided a link
2. Check social media sites to ensure a link to the website is present
3. Check the ILS sites to ensure a link to the website is present
4. Check the Directory sites to ensure a link is present
5. Find new opportunities to gain links to the website
